How People Are Reacting To PM Modi’s #LightACandle Initiative

“On March 22 (Janta Curfew Day), at 5 pm stand on your doors and windows for 5 minutes and clap, ring a bell to salute people who are serving the nation tirelessly,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the citizens of India.

The initiative received different kinds of reactions from people. While it was an event to show solidarity to the first responders, many people thought that this was sheer science.

And as India continues to tackle this crisis and entered day 10 of the 21-day nation-wide lockdown, the PM addressed the citizens in a short video message and has requested everyone to light a candle or a diya or even use the mobile flashlight for 9 minutes at 9 pm on April 5 to mark the nation’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

While this is again an initiative to bring the citizens together to strengthen India’s fight against the ill-famed virus, it is again receiving different form of reactions from people with different thoughts.
